Internet of things (IoT) using Raspberry Pi

This is an introductory course about the credit card sized computer Raspberry Pi.This course is ideal for those who are interested in exploring the possibilities of Raspberry Pi as a computer. The course does not assume any prior knowledge on computers or programming. However, a knowledge of Linux operating system and Python programming language would greatly help you in getting up to speed.

If you do not know Linux or Python, no need to worry. The course has sections that cover the basics of Linux and Python to get you started.

Internet of Things (IoT) using Raspberry Pi

This is an introductory course explaining the concepts of the Internet of Things(IoT) and the corresponding representations via Raspberry Pi. Raspberry Pi is a credit card sized computer system and this course will make you understand the components, setup process, initiation and utilization of it in both Standalone mode as well as IoT enabled mode.

This course emphasizes the following concepts:

  1. IoT Basics
  2. Operating System Basics (LINUX)
  3. Object Oriented programming(OOPs) language – with Python
  4. Descriptive setup of Raspberry Pi
  5. Different Sensors and their integration with Raspberry Pi
  6. An Introduction to Application level Protocols like MQTT
  7. Installing MQTT broker(Mosquitto) on Raspberry Pi
  8. Cloud Integration with stand-alone computer systems.
  9. Application development (Smart and Behavioral Home Automation System using MQTT)


Note: This course does not assume any prerequisites, but the knowledge of UNIX or LINUX operating System and basic programming aptitude would be a good tipping point.
